Lodging recommendation/city…halfway point Hall in Tirol to Frankfurt

Date: September 17, 2024
Driving by car

I’m leaving Hall in Tirol on the 17th. I’m hoping I will only need 1 extra night traveling before reaching Frankfurt on the 18th.

*parking is needed
Bonus: lodging that serves excellent breakfast would be ideal & comfortable bedding.

Is that reasonable? Just 1 city before Frankfurt after leaving Hall in Tirol? Logistically on the map it looks doable?

Thank you fellow travelers,
Nova

Paul636,

Danke Schoen for your recommendation. I did see Ulm was a halfway city but always appreciate recommendations. I’ve never been there so I wasn’t sure if it was a good stop by town.

Of course I would love a charming town.

Again a million thanks,
Nova

Guten Abend Dave & SLA019,

Thank you for the suggestions.

Dinkelsbuel does look like it has more lodging options.

Someone else mentioned Ulm…but I wasn’t too pleased with what I saw.

Ellwangen didn’t have too much to offer.

I’m looking for the listing where everyone says: omg the breakfast & how charming the place is. And how lovely the owners are. And parking onsite would be a huge bonus. Hehe

Dinkelsbühl is one of my favourite towns, and the Stork camera on top of the town offices across from the church is a bonus - you can watch them on a screen in the window.

But most of Dinkelsbühl is old town, and old towns have narrow lanes and limited parking. There are a couple of squares in the neighbourhood but the hotel we use has no parking and none of the others we looked at do either. If you are not comfortable parking on the street you need to look into the new build areas, maybe one of them would pan out.
