Lodging near Frankfurt airport

Looking for reasonably priced accommodations near Frankfurt airport. We will arrive with rental car, so trying to avoid the inner city due to difficulties parking. Also, out flight out is at 10 am, so need to drop off car by 7 am at the latest. Ideally would like to find a room in a nearby village, and avoid the $350+ rates charged by airport hotels. Any recommendations are much appreciated.

Our go-to hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn AT the airport, to eliminate pre-flight transportation stress. Last booked in June, about $175 (previously in January at about $79)

The Hilton at the airport changes their rates constantly so you could keep checking and find a deal. I was looking for weeks and the rates were always in the $200+ range and then one day I checked and they were under $100 and I booked it.

I know all too well about the rate changes, and apparently that has to do with conventions in Frankfurt. During their busy times the hotels can be three times higher than other times. At this time the Hilton is over $200 and so I will check out some other options. Just sent an email to Pension Wiederman, which is located in Raunheim, directly across the train station with a direct connection to the airport. Not sure yet about their rates or availability during our travel dates, but I hope to hear back from them soon. They are also on Tripadvisor. http://www.wiedemann-pension.de/

Mainz is only about a 15 minute train ride from the airport, so I almost always stay there the night before I fly out of Frankfurt. My usual choice is the Hotel Konighof, only about 100 meters from the main Mainz train station. I have never paid more than about 75 -80 euro there, for an excellent room with breakfast included. However, there are probably a dozen other hotels in Mainz where the rate for one night is 100 euro or less.

Don't try to turn in the car that morning. Ditch it the day before and stay somewhere with convenient public transportation to the airport.

I would second the recommendation of Königshof in Mainz; I stayed there in 2008. The time from Mainz Hbf to the airport on a half-hourly S-Bahn is more like 25 minutes, but the Hbf is a short walk across the Bahnhofs Vorplatz. The price is right and they have a great breakfast buffet, including American dishes.

There is also a Best Western in Rüsselsheim.

Mainz is no village but it is a very nice city. I'd do as has been suggested - drop the car the day before, possibly in Mainz, and give yourselves a few hours in Mainz for a nice walk through the old town area and a good meal. It's a good place for picking up gifts at the end of your trip as well.

There's also an Ibis hotel in Mainz, 1 block from the Mainz Roemisches Theater station on Neutorstrasse - which is a bit closer to the old town than the main station where the Koenigshof is. The MRT station is one stop closer to FRA as well and also sends off trains very early in the am to FRA.

With an early flight like yours I'd plan to skip breakfast in Mainz and grab what you can at FRA... Breakfast is not included at the Ibis, so you don't pay for what you don't use.

This map shows Mainz' pedestrian zone streets in pink. The MRT station is labeled DB at the bottom of the map.

Hey,
as mentioned above price do change a lot.
I would have suggested Mainz as well as city closse to the Frankfurt airport.

You could also check hotels around Frankfurt airport, like on this list http://www.my10airporthotels.com/germany/frankfurt-am-main-international-airport-airporthotel-frankfurt-am-main/ there are some family-run smaller hotels (Hilton ist number 10 on the list, - so to say - the furthest away from the airport - you see a map at the end of the page, distance of course depends as well which terminal you need to head to).
Drop car off the day before, you never know about morning traffic.
