Lodging In Cologne, Koblenz & Frankfurt

Yesterday I purchased airline tickets for December. I’ll be traveling with a friend and the goal is to see some Christmas markets and also other things. My friend has never been to Germany and this will be my 8th time. We will base in these 3 places in Germany and will do day trips from Koblenz and Frankfurt. I have family in Cologne, but do not want to stay with anyone this time. With only 3 nights there and family to visit in addition to showing my friend the city, we won’t be doing day trips from there. I’m hoping for recommendations for convenient hotels or other lodging in these three cities. We would need a room with twin beds or more than one bed of any size that would be convenient (no more than a 10-15 min walk or easy bus ride) to the train station for day trips. I would like to keep the cost at no more than €150 per night, and less is better. Particularly in Koblenz it would be nice to find a place with a washer.

Lodging priorities are location, safety and cleanliness.

This trip will originate in Bruges and I will post under the Belgium forum for suggestions there.

Thanks in advance for any advice and tips you can provide. This trip wasn’t on my radar and I’m super excited to be going!

I suggest Google maps. Look for the Main Station in each city and use the "nearby" tab for hotels, especially in Koblenz and Frankfurt. In Cologne, perhaps your family can suggest a hotel near the station. I stayed in a Marriott a couple blocks away that was reasonable and very nice.

For Frankfurt, I would look at the Motel One near the Römer. If it is not available, try Flemings by Eschenheimer Turm, Ruby, Hotel am Dom, Spener Haus, Moxy, or Hotel Mirimar.

I’ve booked Cologne. We are no longer going to stay in Koblenz and I’ve booked somewhere else.
