Hello Travelers-
My husband, adult son & I will be traveling for 3 weeks in Southern Germany. Any suggestions on lodging for 3 on a budget? Some places offerTB- triple beds, add'l bed, and some look like we'd need to book a DB & a single. We are considering Air bnb type places as well. Any general suggestions would be helpful- what to look for (and look out for!). Thx-
You might get better info if you list the cities you're staying in:)
I've used triple rooms in the past. The key is to email the hotel directly and book that way instead of a website. That way they for sure know you need the extra bed. Sometimes it's also a little cheaper to book through email as well.
Just remember that in European hotels, you usually pay per person, not per room (although a large room for one will obviously cost more than a small room for one).
Thank you for your suggestions! I realize I'm a bit vague on details (exact towns) these are still being figured out. I appreciate the suggestions that will help us plan our trip. Clearly I need to read up on European Hotel rates as I didn't realize they were per person....
Thanks!
You won't see hotel room rates listed per person; only hostel bunk beds are listed that way. Hotel listings will describe the total price per room. But that price can vary.
An official triple or a double with a roll-away will cost more than a double. You can't book a double and then add a third person unannounced. (I think this is what Tom meant.)
Similarly, if a single person requests a single room, she may be placed in a double space at a small discount, but not 50% off the double price.
