Lodging before flight out of Munich

We will ride the train in to Munich on Saturday July 22 from Linz after our river cruise and fly out the next day. We have a reservation at the Hotel Neuwirt in Hallbergmoos, but I am beginning to worry about transportation to and from...it's close to the airport, and we can evidently ride the bus to and from the train station, but does anyone have a suggestion for a hotel they like for a pre-flight one night stay in Munich?

Thanks!

If you want to avoid the soulless airport hotels I'd suggest staying either in Freising oder Erding. Both are accessible by bus from / to the airport and both have hotels with shuttle service. In Freising e.g. the traditional bavarian Hotel Huber, in Erding my preference would be the Best Western Parkhotel (Erding has one of the best spa's in Germany).

Hi Weath....
It's only a 40 minute S-bahn ride from the heart of Munich to the airport. I would personally stay in Munich proper and explore the Marianplatz and maybe the Hofbrau house instead of spending the night close to the airport... To each his own.

Have a great trip!!!

Hi,

We like the Best Western Park Hotel in Erding also. Loved Erding old town too. 5 minute walk from the hotel. We had stayed twice in Hallbergmoos at the Moevenpick. Nice hotel, office park like location out in kind of nowhere.

We stay at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Freising every year now.

Very nice rooms, a good breakfast and a great staff. We have stayed in Munich proper but we just like Freising better for one night. The Wirtshaus Weißbier Huber is our favorite last meal in country.

We splurge and catch a taxi to the airport in the morning, usually the only one of the trip.

I always stay near the Ostbahnhof in Munich and just take the SBahn to the airport even with a flight as early as 6:30am. If I ever felt like I needed to be closer to the airport I would probably stay in Freising or Erding.

@sla019

Freising oder Erding

I think a little bit of German snuck into your English.

Three days ago we were in similar situation flying from Munich in the early afternoon. We stayed in German Kaiser hotel across the street from Hauptbahnhof. Walking distance (about 20 minutes) from Marienplatz. Next day we took S8 to the airport.

Thanks for all your suggestions.....I'm not sure what we will do yet but I have a lot of options to look at.

Being a rookie European traveler....I can't tell you how much it helps to get recommendations from people who have been there.

Happy Trails!
