we will be in germany in september and early october: fussen, garmisch, rotherburg, heideberg, bacharach, and cochen. are there any venues in these towns where one can go to hear live german music? danke schoen, nicholas
I have heard from Tom now from Lewistown and formerly of Germany, that Ruedisheim, on the way between Heidelberg and Bacharach, is Schlager Musik central. I guess you could call it German popular country music.

Garmisch: Fraundorfer Inn - not just music but Schuhplattler too. See their promotional video on this page - in German but you'll get the idea.
Hi,
If you get the opportunity to hear Schlager music, they will play current hits as well as those going back in the 1970s,.. the 1960s too, if you're really lucky...a real pleasure. I've been in towns and cities when walking around, I bumped into live music in public (all by chance) in Bad Sassendorf/Westf. , Düsseldorf, Nürnberg, and Magdeburg, where a Volksfest was going on or just a Schlager band was playing. You can expect to hear everything from foxtrot, tango to old time Schlager hits plus current hits.....all very enjoyable and great stuff.
The Stadt Fest in Wurzburg is great and is held in September. Mix of live music at several stages--not all of it necessarily traditional German music. Some pop, jazz, country, whatever. Enjoyable time.
