Linderhof Palace May Road Closure

Hello,

My husband and I were planning to rent a car from Munich and go to Neuschwanstein Castle in the morning and Linderhof Palace in the afternoon, then returning to Munich the same night. I was just on Linderhof Palace's website and it seems there is a road closure at certain times of day, though it looks like there are still ways to get there. But on top of that they are not letting you get tickets online for these dates, so we would have to show up and hope for the best. Thoughts on whether we should still try to go with our original plan or if we should make different plans after Neuschwanstein Castle? Here is what it says about the roads, we are going on a weekday. Can't change to weekend without messing up other plans:

5 to 23 May 2025: State road 2060 (Graswang – Linderhof) temporarily closed
Due to roadworks, the state road 2060 between Graswang and Linderhof will be temporarily closed from Monday, 5 May to Friday, 23 May 2025. On the weekends (10/11 + 17/18 May 2025) the road will be open continuously (from Saturday 7 am to Monday 3 pm).

Access for cars and minibuses (Monday-Friday)
Linderhof Palace can be reached by car from Germany and Austria daily from 7 am to 3 pm without any restrictions. From 3 pm on weekdays, the state road 2060 between Linderhof and Graswang is closed, i. e. cars must then drive to and from Austria.

No tickets on sale online due to roadworks from 5 to 23 May 2025
Due to a temporary road closure, tickets for the period from 5 to 23 May 2025 will not be on sale online. During this period, tickets will only be available at the Linderhof Palace ticket office.

Edit: Very much leaning towards skipping Linderhof, doing combined Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau, then spending a little time in Fussen before heading back but would love to hear others suggestions.

If you take the car you can easily visit Oberamergau and the Ettal Monastery on the way back from Hohenschwangau. While not quite as nice as Linderhof, they are on the route to and from Munich. Fussen, and the drive from Linderhof to Munich through Austria, are out of the way.

Thank you both for your responses. I'm now torn because Oberammergau looks gorgeous but my husband would probably love it if we just did Fussen and we didn't have to rent a car. Hmmmm.
