I am searching for a place to stay on Lindau island. I will be traveling alone for this part of my birthday trip!
I would love to find a quaint, clean place- nothing fancy just comfortable. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Does it have to be Lindau? I ask because frankly the island doesn't do much for me. There are a number of places around Bodensee I do prefer. In the south I like to stay in Dornbirn, because I can take the tram up the mountain and hike or just have a good meal with a fantastic view. I also prefer to stay in Meersburg (about half way up on the German side, because the castle and lower town are great to walk around and especially nice in the evenings. And last Konstanz is best if I'm spending time on that end of the lake; Mainau (which is much better than Lindau), the old town, the lake spas, and proximity to Meersburg (by ferry), and the Urwelt Museum in Bodensee (dinosaurs), and Rhine Falls.

Yes it needs to be Lindau.
I chose Lindau for its location as I will be meeting others near there later in my trip. Konstanz (and Minau) are on my itinerary later in my trip.
