Leipheim

Anyone been to Leipheim that can offer input as to what it is like now? I lived there and went to school there in the late 50's. Dad was in an armor division and stationed there. Leipheim had an airfield used by the Germans in WWII. The base was used by the Germans and in 46 many Jews stayed there until they could find other places to live. Leipheim, a small town about 20 miles from Ulm was a nice place to live. Remember there was a stork's nest in town and each spring the nest was always full of baby storks. Thinking about going back to visit in 2016 and just wondered if anyone had been there within the past few years. I finished the 7th and 8th grade there and had to go to Augsburg to high school each day. Not a fun bus trip. There was 8 of us in my 8th grade class and our graduation trip was 3 days to Garmish, and Berchtesgaden. What fun times, so thought I would go back to see what is still there.

I've never been to Leipheim, but I know there's no US activity there anymore. All I can really say is that, knowing that region of Germany, it's probably still a nice town, and that nearby Ochsenhausen and Biberach are worth a visit.
