Layover in Munich airport timing

We are looking to book a flight on United from Denver to Paris with a 1 hour 55 minute layover in Munich on a Sunday. Is that enough time to get through customs and make our connection? We then fly on Lufthansa to Paris. Thank you!

It's plenty if your flight from Denver arrives in time. Both United and Lufthansa use Terminal 2, which has a minimal transfer time of 40 min and is well organized. If your filght is delayed they will put you on the next available fligth (provided, of course, that both legs are on a single ticket).

I had a delayed flight to Munich last fall, which reduced a 2 hour connection to not much more than 20 minutes from stepping off the United plane until my onward Lufthansa flight was scheduled to depart, and it was on time. And I made it! (although my checked bag did not -- they did a good job of sending that one on a later flight that day and delivering it to my hotel in Dubrovnik though). So yes, your nearly 2 hours should be more than enough.

That information is also very helpful because we’re already needing to change our departure date and are looking at an even shorter layover in Munich so your response is very comforting! Thank you so much!

If your travel is on a single ticket AND and your checked luggage is checked through to Paris, then you won't have to go through customs in Munich.

However, you will have to go through Schengen immigration (passport check) in Munich. That will be in the middle of your arrival building (follow the herd). That has never taken me more than a few minutes.

If your arrival and departure are both in the same building (main or satellite) you'll just go down one floor on an elevator and find your gate.

If you are arriving at or departing from (but not both) the satellite Terminal 2, then you will have to take an underground shuttle to the other building. I've never had to do this, so maybe someone else can tell you how long it takes.

We are only traveling with a carry on (a compact piece of luggage) and it’s a one way ticket booked all the way through from Denver to Paris-and it appears we will arrive and depart from terminal 2. So I believe that means we would need to go through customs? Or not? Thank you!

Customs in Munich T2 is just outside of the bag retrieval room, outside of security. Even with carry-on, you will not go through customs unless you are leaving the secure area.

You don't go through customs until everyone, including those who checked bags, have them, and that's in Paris. Even in Paris, unless you have something to declare, customs is probably a walk-thru.

There is a difference between Passport Control/ Immigration and Customs. They are not interchangeable terms. Passport Control checks you coming into the country; Customs regards goods you would be bringing into a country to declare. These are two different monitoring check points.
I don't think I described these processes are well as others have.
Just make sure all your flights are on the same ticket, so if the first flight is late, and you miss your connection, the airline must get you to your final destination.
Have a great trip and safe travels.

I hadn’t thought about that and it makes sense. Thank you very much for the clarification and information!
