Layover 6am to 3:30pm

Hello, we (2 adults) will arrive at MUC via LUFTHANSA with layover time 0600-1530. We have no carryons and is looking for advice for things to do outside the airport. How best to utilize our time, should we take taxi, bus, or train and how to do so? Is a visa required to leave/enter or US Passport is sufficient? Much appreciated in advance.

We were in Munich 2 months ago. I’m not looking up the specifics for this zip visit to town but will outline it generally. Take the train into main train station…walk to Marienplatz…have coffee..wander through the market nearby…go through the cathedral on opposite side of plaza..go to beer hall for early lunch…taxi to train station to take train back to airport by 11:45. You need to be at airport 2 hours before a eu flight.

No visa needed.

Zip into town on the train. A cab doesn't save you a ton of time.
If this is your first time, head to the old city on the S-1 train . Get off at Karlsplatz and do the Rick Steves walking tour.
Head back to the airport when you want on either the S-1 or the S-8.
