Are laundromats common in Germany? We are staying several days in Boppard in the middle of a couple week trip and just found out our hotel does not have public laundry facilities. I have searched a bunch looking for self service laundries (waschesalons) and found none on Yelp or Google. Anyone know if there is one in Boppard? Am I searching by the wrong name maybe?
This came up for me: Eco-Express SB-Waschsalon at 22 Bahnhofstr. in Koblenz (near the main train station)
Hmmm. 35 miles away. I hope I find something closer but thanks for looking. Looks like SB-walschsalon is the right term but not finding anything in Boppard.
That is only 15 minutes on the regional train that goes every 1/2 hour. Since you are staying in Boppard, you get a VRM guest card so it is free.
BTW, More like 10 miles than 35.
Koblenz Hbf is the area train hub. Will you travel by train? Visitors to Boppard often must change trains or pass through Koblenz Hbf station on their way to or from Boppard already. So perhaps you handle this task just before or after your stay.
You can always contact the Boppard TI office for advice on alternative laundry options:

I don't think there is one. I stayed in Boppard a few months ago, and ended up doing laundry at the same laundromat in Koblenz mentioned earlier by Russ (Eco-Express SB-Waschsalon at 22 Bahnhofstrasse). It was perfectly fine. I don't remember my reasoning for why it couldn't be done in Boppard, but I know I asked around beforehand. I think I was unable to find a self-serve place in town, and the hotel option was no good. So while it wasn't ideal, off to Koblenz I went.
As noted, your hotel should give you a card that covers free train travel to Koblenz, and for me, I helped rationalize the detour by making a quick walk up through the altstadt to see the Deutsches Eck monument. If your itinerary is tight and you can't/don't want to spare a laundry break, I'd take a closer look to see if it would be more convenient to do it where you'll be before/after Boppard.
