Traveling from Salzburg, Austria to Colmar France with a 3 to 4 night stop on Lake Constance.
Where is the best location to travel around the lake? My current thoughts are Lindau Island,Konstanz or Meersburg. I am opened to any other suggestions too.

I usually end up near Meersberg. Outside the town though to the west.

Will you be driving? Meersburg is not serviced by train. The bus that goes there from Friedrichshafen is pretty good, with only a couple of stops

My favorites are Überlingen, Lindau or Meersburg if you have a car but it gets very crowded and hard to park a car unless your lodging has parking. All three towns have beautiful centers, lots of walking opportunities and lake exploring ferries. Don’t miss a trip by ferry to the Insel Mainau near Konstance but we didn’t care for the city of Konstanz as a hub.
