My brother and I are doing family research in May and will travel from Kusel, Germany to Bern, Switzerland, staying a day or two in each. Does anyone have a suggestion of another city or area that would be great to visit for a day or so in that same general area as we're traveling? (We're flying in to Frankfurt, then on to Kusel.)

Basel.... I'd take it over Bern in a New York 50 seconds, and you will drive right past it. I take it you are driving? Vignette?
You will go past both the Alsace wine route and the Black Forest, as well as Speyer and the German wine route.

Thanks for your reply! We are doing family research so we have to go to Bern, but I'll follow up with Basel on your recommendation.
