We are going to leave Krakow and head for Frankfurt or Cologne. Party of 4 traveling in August. The trains just take too darn long for this part of our trip. We would rather drive. I am thinking of getting out of Poland to some point in Germany closest to Krakow to rent a car. Any ideas out there on how best to do this or any better ideas? Thanks this Forum has always helped me so much in the past!

It's too darn long by car as well... Krakow has a nice small airport. I flew in there a few years ago on Ryanair. Check their site for your travel date. I'm seeing August flights for the 1.5-hour trip to FRA International in the €70-80 range. There may be other airlines doing this trip (or to Cologne) cheaply as well - check google flights.
