There is a way. Regional trains for Gengenbach > Offenburg > Freiburg > Breisach (border town at the Rhine River) see DB site for schedules.
I've taken the bus previously from Breisach to Colmar, but there's a new operator that I'm not familiar with. See the schedule below for May 22.
Local French bus from Breisach station to Colmar, pay separately. Trip takes close to 45 minutes. Rome2Rio site says the price is €3.

it is valid from when it is issued to you after checkin through the full day of your checkout. At one time some establishments used to issue KONUS if you stayed a minimum nunber of nights. I don't know if that is still true. Ask your hotel...
