Koln to wuppertal

Trying to decipher the tickets for a 24 hour pass for two from Koln to wuppertal
Db bahn app and website or not helpful. Is there a local pass from Kelona that would cover a round-trip for a day and local transportation inside wuppertal and cologne

Many thanks for your information. It’s a little confusing though whether it’s a pass and a return on the same date? Also, there’s a tag ticket and a schonerfahrt ticket confused, which ones which, and which trains you cannot use

The regional passes are all the same. You can use them from 9 am to 3 am the next day on weekdays, and from midnight on day 1 to 3 am on day 2. The cost is €27 for one person and an additional €9 for the additional person. You do not need to purchase this in advance, although you can if you like. You cannot use the regional pass on a high-speed (ICE) train but can use them on regional trains, and they can also be used for public transport in the city. So, for example, if you are taking the train from Cologne to Wuppertal, it would be good for the trip there, the return trip plus all local transport in both cities, as as it's complete by the time frame above.

Mardee, those are the prices for a Bavaria Ticket, but the OP is traveling in Nord Rhein-Westfalen.

My reading is for an NRW group day ticket starting 9 am weekdays is 47.90 EUR.

kavinso, my apologies - Sam is correct. The price for the North-Rhine Westphalia pass is higher than the Bavarian pass. It's still a good deal, in my opinion, since you are making a day trip of it but it is not as cheap as the Bavaria ticket.

Sam, thanks! I had no idea the prices were different and that's my mistake. I only used it in Bavaria and just assumed all the regional passes were the same price.

I used an NRW group ticket in 2015 and at that time, I think it was about 42 EUR and I remember thinking that it was expensive compared to a Bayern Ticket. All I can say is that NRW has a much higher population density and a denser transport network. The Laender Tickets are subsidized by the Laender governments, so the price varies by region (Land).

So we went to Wuppertal today with the NRW ticket for two and it was €45 but it was a mess with two out of every 3RE trains canceled and the other ones 30 minutes delayed. Thinking of going to Bonn tomorrow. I don’t want to spend another €45 for a messed up train system Someone told me you can take line 16 from cologne HPF to bonn . Is this possible according to the schedule? It takes only 45 minutes to an hour and there’s three euro each way.

I liked Duesseldorf, nice Bierhalle for dinner, too.

Schedule shows that the Line 16 tram takes 57 minutes from Cologne Hbf to Bonn Hbf and costs exactly the same as the S-Bahn, 8.80 EUR per person each way. I don't know who told you it was 3 EUR, maybe a local with a subscription card. Anyway, you don't need an NRW Day Ticket for that.
