Kaufbeuren Train Station

Can anyone tell me how to get from Platform 3 to Platform 1 at Kaufbeuren train station and
how to get from Platform 21a-c to Platform 22 at Lindau Reutin? Thank you.

As you can see from this picture, A-C just refers to places on a long platform for a train that will not fill the whole platform. You get off on platform 22, go up stairs or maybe an elevator and across to track 21.

Very easy changes, both.

Why are the platforms in Lindau Reutin numbered 21-24 when platforms in German stations normally start with 1 and are numbered 1, 2, 3, etc?

I believe the tracks in Reutin have numbers in the 20s to show that they are a special subset of the tracks in Lindau, which start on the island in the Hbf with tracks 1 - 8.

Reutin is a recently added Lindau station, added so that trains headed to Switzerland do not have to go onto the island.

I assume that these track numbers were just the real numbers from the earlier railway switch yard, built 1872 (see aerial photo).
The passenger part of the train station was re-activated in 2020.

Text from German Wikipedia entry: "Am 14. Oktober 1872 wurde die Station Lindau-Rangierbahnhof mit 21 Gütergleisen in Betrieb genommen." (On October 14, 1872, the Lindau shunting station with 21 freight tracks was put into operation.)

Side info: Sorting station Maschen (south of Hamburg) shows how huge such a switch yard can become.
