Itinerary am I doing too much

Hi everyone I am traveling through Germany and Austria by car.
We will be doing the following

7 days Romantic Road tour starting in Wurzburg and ending with two days in Munich we will visit the little towns along the way.
2 days in Hiedelberg
2days in St Gallen Switzerland
3 days in Salzburg
3 days in Vienna
3 days in Budapest
We will be flying into Frankfurt and flying out of Budapest.
Is this doable any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated

I'd drop one of the Budapest days and instead stop somewhere between Salzburg and Vienna. Maybe I'm mixing up my geography, but I recall that being a long day of driving. Also saying that because I'm not crazy about Budapest, but many find it a fascinating town. Re: Salzburg--if one of the days you're there is a Sunday, please know that many of the shops are closed on Sundays.

Are you counting full days, or partial days, in each place? That is, for instance, will you spend three full days (i.e. four nights) in Vienna? Or three nights?

This itinerary is certainly doable, in the sense that you can get to these places and spend time there in the time allotted. Your own preferences and priorities should dictate how long you spend in each place. Unlike Rachel, I'd take a day out of Salzburg and spend it in either Vienna or (my preference) Budapest. But I like big cities.

Salzburg is only 2 hours from Munich. The drive is lovely.
I'd personally add 1 extra day in Munich and take out 1 day in Salzburg, only because Munich is larger and has more to see/ do. If you have time, take the walking tour of Munich. Excellent tour!

If you are renting a car, may I suggest a small car. We had a Mercedes C class and that was such a pain to find parking, and that was a small/mid car. Also, when you stop for a rest stop, some of the toilets are less than clean. I'd stop at a Burger King or McD's and pay 50c for the self cleaning toilet. Keep your stub from the toilet entrance, as you can apply it toward food, so technically the toilet visit is free.

7 days to drive a secondary rural route is far too much. You'll quickly start seeing more of the same. Also, I take it that you didn't list your destinations in order? It doesn't make much sense to drive from Würzburg to Munich, then back north to Heidelberg, then south again to St. Gallen (passing many towns similar to but not on the Romantic Road towns going to and from), then cutting across Austria to Switzerland.

3 days is also too much for Salzburg, unless 3 days equals 2 nights. The Altstadt is very small.

Are you really planning to drive all the way from Munich to H'berg to St. Gallen to Salzburg? All for Heidelberg and St. Gallen? IMO there are many nice places you could see in Bavaria and Austria that are nicer than Heidelberg and provide a fine alpine experience too.
These places would require much less ground travel and represent only a few of your options:
Bamberg and its UNESCO World Heritage old town
Iphofen
Regensburg (also UNESCO)
Burghausen
Berchtesgaden and the Königssee
Hohenwerfen Castle south of Salzburg
Herrenchiemsee (King Ludwig's island palace in Prien, half way between Munich and Salzburg.)

Still, this is way too much driving, even if you improve the route, and you will be stuck with heavy drop off fees if the car is even allowed in Hungary. At a minimum, drop the car in Germany before you leave. But I would look into doing this entire trip by train - you don't want a car in places like Munich or Vienna for sure - and drop the idea of driving the Romantic Road too - see the northern towns of Rothenburg and Würzburg and the southern ones that interest you by train instead.
