Itinerary advice - start or end in Berlin

This is a good problem to have- but would appreciate any advice, objective, subjective or otherwise.
We will be doing an almost 3 week trip. The main cities we will be spending time in and use as a base for day trips are Berlin, Zurich and Milan.

Our itinerary will be the same, spending about a third of the time in each city. it's just a matter of do we start or end in Berlin. We will be traveling in mid June. We would be staying in the same hotels, etc. Are there any reasons why starting in Berlin or Milan would make for a better progression.

Thanks for any advice.

I'd start in Milan and move north, playing the weather odds.

I do wonder about the seven days in Zurich...

And seven days in Milan, hardly the most agreeable city in this part of Italy...

Thanks. Milan and Zurich will be primarily bases for day trips. However, we do enjoy spening time in one place to get a sense of the area, and try to feel more like "locals" then "tourists".

We also have some flexability and can adjust the itinary in terms of number or days spent in each area. . What we wont be able to change is arrival and departure cities on our open jaw plane tickets.

I'll offer you my subjective advice. End the trip in Berlin. Where are flying out of? If you fly from Berlin, you'll most likely connect in Frankfurt. If you end in Berlin, you can also take the night train via Hannover Hbf to fly out of Munich.
