Is the casino in Baden-Baden possible to visit without formal clothing?

We will be spending two nights in Baden-Baden in September. While the casino looks interesting it seems to have a strict dress code that our usual travel clothing will not meet. I am wondering if anyone knows whether it can be visited as a tourist site outside of the gambling operating hours?

We have no interest in gambling but would be interested in the architecture.

For the Casino, We ask men to wear a jacket; a shirt and a tie are desired. If you decide to visit us spontaneously without the appropriate dress, we will gladly provide you with a jacket for a small fee (10.00 Euros).
Smart casual clothing is desirable for the slot machines.

You can visit the casino in Baden-Baden without formal clothing! I’ve been there myself, and while the traditional casino area does have a dress code, the slot machine area is way more relaxed. You don’t need to suit up or anything fancy to enjoy the slots – casual attire is perfectly fine.
When I went, I just wore jeans and a nice shirt, and it was all good. The atmosphere is still classy, but they're not strict about the dress code in the slot machine section. It's a great way to experience the casino vibes without stressing about formalwear.

Thanks. We’re more interested in the architecture than in playing the “slots”.

I visited in the evening and got the sense that the only true requirement was a jacket. Sneakers were not even an issue. They do indeed have a jacket room to provide you with one for the fee mentioned.

Long story short, barring an extreme fashion faux pas, the only barrier to entry I saw was the extra 10 Euro.

A number of years ago I was on a Rick Steves tour staying in Baden Baden and we had a tour of the building but not the gambling area. I thought it was a very interesting building. We just had on regular tourist clothing but were out of there before the casino part opened, I "think".

I guess Baden-Baden is a more formal place. Years ago my father went to play golf at a local course. He wore shorts as usual. Oops. Not allowed. He came back to the hotel and changed into long pants. It really bugged him since he thought the course was little better than a cow pasture !

I visited Baden-Baden a few years ago and faced the same issue. During the day, you can actually do a guided tour of the casino without worrying about formal attire. It's more about the architecture and history at that point, so no need to dress up! But for gambling hours, they definitely enforce the dress code. Tours are totally worth it, though. The interior is stunning!
