We are arriving to Munich on April 30th, and was going to spend the night and visit the Deutsches Museum before renting a car at the Hauptbanhof from Hertz, but can't seem to pick it up anywhere but at the airport.
Was wondering if May 1 was a holiday, as in meant other countries, and not only would renting at the train station not be possible, but the museums would also be closed. Anyone know for sure?

May 1 is Labor Day. All stores will be closed. Museums may or may not be closed. Best is to check the websites for the museums you want to visit. Car rentals should be open though, and public transportation works too.
May Day is a holiday in Germany. Most sights will be closed everything run by the government but maybe you will even see a May Pole.
