We are driving to Berlin from Sweden in our newly purchased Volvo. (Overseas Delivery Program 5/3/2015 )
Is Alexanderplatz Platz area part of the "environmental zone" that requires the green sticker on your car? If so, where do we purchase one?
Answer to first question- yes, most large cities in Germany require the green sticker.
Answer to second question- not sure, because when I lived in Germany, I got the sticker when I registered my car, which obviously wouldn't work for you. Ask the Volvo people when you pick up your car.
a) Yes, the whole downtown area (i.e. inside the S-Bahn ring) is a green zone.
b) Here: https://www.berlin.de/labo/fahrzeuge/kfz-zulassung/feinstaubplakette/shop.86595.en.php or any other German local administration.
Thanks so much for the speedy reply. Our plan is to drive directly to our Berlin hotel @Alexanderplatz from the North and park for the 3 days we are touring the city. Will then wind our way back to Sweden. So, wondering if the sticker then is really necessary? Will discuss with Volvo when we p-up the car. Although, I think you are most likely better versed!! Tack
Whenn you drive inside the "S-Bahn Ring" then you need the sticker. Whether the police stopping you is another question.
The other option is to stay in a hotel outside the "S-Bahn Ring" (S41 / S42) .
Thank you for the input.
