Hi,
My question is I'll be flying in Munich, where do I catch the SBahn to go to the Hotel Isartor and is it a direct ride there. Thank you Deborah
I would suggest using the journey planner by MVV and that will help you get there. https://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/index.html
In the departure box, you should use the drop-down menu to look for München-Flughafen, Airport Munich, then in the arrival box, put your hotel and when the drop-down menu opens up, you should find it in there. Add the approximate date and time and it will give you a good idea of where you should go and which train you should take to get there.
ETA: also, if you go to your hotel website. There is a section on one page that gives you information about using public transportation to get to the hotel. https://www.hotel-isartor.de/en/contact/ (just scroll down till you see it).
There are large signs in the Munich Airport with "S" on them that will direct you to the station which is on a lower level. You can't miss them!
Yes, it is direct with either of the 2 S-Bahns that depart from the airport, the S-1 or the S-8, they alternate departures and the S-8 will be the quicker one. You don't say the date you are traveling, but it looks like the S-1 service may be interrupted currently.
PS, Here is the standard S-Bahn sign.

The entrance to the lower rail level is in the Munich Airport Center, which is the structure
between Terminals 1 and 2. If you're coming from Terminal 2, exit and go across the plaza;
there's an escalator before you go into the building, or you can go into the center and
buy tickets, there's a grocery store to pick up a snack. etc. I think you can walk directly
into the center from Terminal 1 without having to go outside.
Wow, Thank you everyone... I'm new kinda new to Europe traveling this info is great. I'll be traveling there Dec 10 -Dec 23 with a tour, but I'll have a few days before and after. We'll be ending in Austria , also seeing the Christmas markets. Hope you all have a nice holiday, thanks again, Deborah
From the Munich airport S-Bahn station, take the S-8. I believe it leaves from track 2. The train will probably say it's going to Herrsching, but that's it's last stop, far to the SW of downtown. It will stop in town at Isartor in just over a half hour. The two stop before are München Ost (east station) and Rosenheimer Platz. Go up out of the Isartor station and walk about 150 yards to the SW along Thierschstr., Rumfordstr., and Baaderstr. to Hotel Isartor.
Thank you, Lee... everyone has been very helpful 😊
I going to add one more tip: Put City Mapper App on your phone. You can use it to help navigate public transportation in many cities worldwide and Munich is one of them.
