My husband and I are traveling by car from Brugge to Frankfurt. If we have the time and energy, I would like for us plan a three-hour stop at either Brussels or Cologne. I would love some input regarding this quandary. Ideally, I would like to catch a quick tour of something, i.e. Cologne Cathedral - Cologne or The Manneken Pis-Brussels, have a nice lunch, and get back on the road again. Any advice will be helpful.
No contest - see the Cologne cathedral. I can't imagine driving into/finding parking in a big city just for a five minute look at a little statue.
Cathedral > Manneken Pis
Cathedral = Grand-Place/Grote Markt
I'm with Nancy, in my mind there's no contest. Definitely Cologne Cathedral and maybe the museum nearby, whatever you have time for, and lunch somewhere along the waterfront.
Thanks, I suppose my instincts were correct. Thanks for the advice.
I've truly enjoyed both destinations so I'm not sure my comments are helpful? I have visited Köln many times...there is so much to see and do there. Of course the Kölner Dom ist so breathtaking.
