Hi all! We spent a lovely Sunday in Rothenberg ob der Tauber but didn’t see the parking kiosk (another car was blocking it). When we returned we had a parking ticket. Does anyone know a website where we can pay it online? (The ticket only had an email address, which we emailed, with no response yet.) I’d rather pay it myself than have it routed thru the rental car company, who will probably add some kind of surcharge. Thanks!
If you’re still in town, pay it locally which is what I did once. Even then it was routed through the rental company and I was assessed the administrative fee. If there’s no website on the infraction, but an address, you could also send a check using the current exchange rate. I did that back in 2012.
I believe you can also wire payment, but I’ve never done that for paying a ticket.
Just pay it by bank transfer. Sum and payment details shall stand on the ticket.
We were lucky. Around 1994, we saw the meter lady putting a ticket on our rental car. We just went out and gave her whatever money she asked for.
Update - we emailed the parking people and they emailed us back and wanted us to do a wire transfer. I tried doing it in Europe through Western Union, only to be told that I was not allowed to transfer to a business. Then I tried doing it through Wells Fargo, but it had all these extra layers of security, including sending me text messages for verification that I was unable to receive since I did not have a European Sim card. So I finally was able to pay it through Wells Fargo when I got back to the United States. It ended up costing me €28 for a €20 parking ticket because of additional fees and the exchange rate. Now here’s hoping that I paid it before it got reported to Hertz!
glad it is sorted.
That's when having access to a Wise account would have come in very handy.
