How to get to Weltenberg Abbey from Nuremberg

Hello all. I’m in Germany now with my mom and daughter. All your advice has been very helpful. I’m writing this message on the DB to Regensburg for a day trip.

We want to go to Weltenberg Abbey from Nuremberg by train (and I assume bus or walk and then boat). But I’m having a hard time figuring it all out and I don’t want to mess it up since mom’s walking is limited and she neglected to pack her pump for her wheelchair tires (I’m getting a workout for sure pushing her around).

I don’t want to meander around more than I have to. Does anyone here know the way (which train station to take) and how to get to the boat to the Abbey after we get there? Thanks!

From Regensburg you take the train towards Ingolstadt or Ulm and change in Saal (this is the sixth stop) to the bus to Kelheim. The bus stop for the boats to Weltenburg is "Wöhrdplatz". Ask the driver to tell you where to get off, he is used to such questions.

They also suggest by taxi from Ingolstadt for about 20 EUR.

Then the monks have miscalculated strongly, because from Ingolstadt it is about 60 km to Weltenburg. Besides, the OP is coming from the opposite direction, from Regensburg. And even from there, the Regensburg Taxi center quotes a price of approx. €60 to Kelheim.
