How to get from Frankfurt Airport (terminal 1) to Wiesbaden train station

Can someone help me with this? I figured out how to get from terminal 1 of the Frankfurt airport to the S8 train, which will take me to Frankfurt's central train station (4th stop) but what train will get me from the Frankfurt station to the train station in Wiesbaden? We don't leave until late August. Thank you

Use www.bahn.de

Enter: FRA as departure, and Wiesbaden (or if you want the street address of your accommodation) as a destination.

The first thing you will notice when you do that is that you do not need to travel to Frankfurt Main Station. In fact, you will be going the other way. There are direct trains from the Airport to Wiesbaden.

Basically it is either S8 or S9, but going the other way. That gives you a train every 15 minutes. And there are also ICE and IC trains you can take.

I do not know what research you did before, but for the next time: For train travel just use the trip planner at www.bahn.com, and throw overboard any a priori assumptions about the route.

For the Frankfurt and Rhein Main area, use www.rmv.de
The S-8, S-9 all go to Wiesbaden. Just go to the Regional train station under Terminal 1. The trains will leave from platform 3.

thank you, thank you. Originally, I was heading in the opposite (wrong) direction. Thank you for turning me around. I'm all set now.

Hats off to the Germans for connecting FRA to their rail and commuter networks and not forcing everyone to go through the Frankfurt Hbf.

Kinda helped that commuter network connected Mainz Hbf and the Frankfurt Hbf, and the airport was only slightly off a straight line connection the two stations.

Hats off to the Germans for connecting FRA to their rail and commter
networks and not forcing everyone to go through the Frankfurt Hbf.

The Germans aren't the only ones doing this. Integrating the airport in the regions mass transit network is very common, as not only do passengers need to get to/from the airport (and there a lot will indeed go to the main city), but also the the people working there.

So having a station integrated in the main network, in stead of (or in addition to in some cases) a dedicated airport train is very common in Europe. The list of airports where you can take trains to other cities than the main one served by the airport is quite long.

But the main point here is that I see quite a few X/Y problems pass here, which is why I reiterate: If you want to figure out how to get from A to B, just solve how to get from A to B. Do not assume that you need to go via C and treat it as two different problems, A to C and C to B. Just let www.bahn.de find the route for you. Comprehensive public transit planners are very common in Europe. Use them.

I recommend downloading the DB (Deutsche Bahn) app to your smartphone. It makes trip scouting and ticket purchase very easy. The airport station is listed as Frankfurt Flughafen. There are two stations, one is for long distance travel. Ms. Jo is pointing you to the correct regional station which is closest to the terminal.

If you wait until you are on site and prefer to use a ticket machine, do note that there are separate machines for commuter train tickets, only some of which will accept a credit card. These are nearby and visually different from the red colored DB machines.

OK, I have downloaded the DB app on my phone. I am sure it will prove useful. Earlier I had tried online to get from point A to B but I kept getting "not available" "not available" without knowing that maybe I was trying to buy a ticket too early no explanation about this search result). No pun intended, but I'm on the right track now (I just have to wait until closer to my time of purchasing a ticket) Thank you

This is a very easy trip and you don't really need any apps to get a ticket. Go to the turquoise machines at the Regional station and buy your ticket to Wiesbaden. Since this is just a one way ticket, you do not want to get it ahead of time as they are time stamped. Go to track 3 and get on your train.

After arrival just follow the signs to the train station parallel to the terminal; a bit of a walk but very easy to get to. No need to travel to Frankfurt City station; the station at the airport will get you anywhere you need to go. If you use a kiosk to purchase tickets, note the country flag at the top of the screen - for English choose the UK's Union Jack. We found the information desk person unhelpful who told us to "just use the machines" and relied on a helpful German and English speaking fellow traveler to help us get oriented. Finally with tickets in hand, our train arrived on time and was a pleasure to use.

Try buying, say, a SEPTA ticket at the Amtrak counter in Philadelphia 30th Street. You won't find them very helpful either and for the same reason as the DB people in FRA.
