How to buy train tickets from Stuttgart to Esslingen

Trying to plan a train from Stuttgart to Esslingen.
I looked at int.bahn.de - they don't display any train schedule
I also looked at https://www.vvs.de/ - however, it won't let me purchase tickets for December...

Is there a dedicated app or web platform where I can purchase the tickets to Esslingen??
thank you..

Why not just buying at day of travel? It is just regional public transport / S-Bahn. So VVS app is a good decision.

Its just a local commuter train. You can buy a ticket out of the vending machine at the station.

You don't say where in Pennsylvania you are from, but if south east, would you buy have to buy a SEPTA ticket from Philadelphia to Radnor a month in advance?

The site int.bahn.de does show a schedule. I do not understand why this would not work for you.

However, yes, this is trivial mass transit. Just buy your ticket at the station or using the VVS app at the moment of travel itself.

Note that public transit is integrated (as is common in Germany) and thus your ticket is good for all public transit, so from anywhere in Stuttgart to anywhere in Esslingen, by any mode of public transit. And a day ticket is about the same price is to single tickets. So probably best to just buy a day ticket for zones 1 and 2, and you are free to travel as much as you like in those zones.

Thank you Mark and Sam and WengenK

You're right WengenK - int.bahn.de does show me the schedule now.. hmm.. strange..
The schedule in int.bahn.de is more comprehensive..
Strange how vvs.de show schedules in the morning and then jumps to late afternoon (nothing around 10-3PM -which is showin in int.bahn.de website)... that's odd

One quick question regarding a day ticket.. the price is 8.30E for zone 1,2 for one person.
What is Stadt ticket (city ticket)?? it is 8E for upto 5 people... and seems to cover Esslingen for 24 hours..
under FAQ, it says "city ticket" - it reports the following...
in Stuttgart and the neighbouring districts of Böblingen, Esslingen, Göppingen, Ludwigsburg, the Rems-Murr district and by rail to/from Lorch, as well as in some cases in incoming and outgoing traffic in/from municipalities in neighbouring districts (see tariff zone map)
what am I missing here??
