How Many Hours for Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau

HI! I think I may not have scheduled enough time to do both castles if I scheduled a 14:00 start time. Does anyone know?

Is that a pickup of reserved tickets at 14:00 or the start time of the first castle tour at 14:00? Which castle first?

Even if you are picking up your reserved tickets at 14:00, I still think you have enough time. But if you are just planning to show up at the ticket kiosk at 14:00, without reservations, you might be in trouble.

Carrie,

From what I remember, it's going to take at least two hours for the guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle. I suppose you could rush out right after the tour to shorten the time somewhat, but you've come a long way to see the Castle so why do that. Another two hours or so for Hohenschwangau will probably be needed (I'll leave that question to the others). You may also want to allocate some time to visit Mary's Bridge for the iconic photo of Neuschwanstein. If you're starting the tours at 14:00, you may not have time for everything.

The Hohenschwangau website says you should pick up reserved tickets one hour before your first tour. Is 14:00 the time by which they said to pick up your tickets. I'm thinking you have a reservation to tour Neuschwanstein aound 15:00. The tour takes about 40 mins; it's guided, so you can't make it any longer. When the tour is over, they dump you in the gift shop. No reason to stay around longer.

The trip down to Hohenschwangau castle shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, meaning you'd get there just after 16:00. What time does your reservations say for the second castle? Hohenschwangau is open for tours until 18:00. I assume 18:00 is the start time for the last tour.

This, of course, assumes you already have reserved you tours.

For the N-stein tour, you have to count the long, long walk up the hill from the ticket office, and then the walk back. The inside tour was less than either walk, as I recall.

The "long, long walk", according to Google maps, is about a mile and will take someone half an hour. I believe it took me less time than that with my 71 y.o. mother.

Thanks everyone! I don't want to rush so I will just get there earlier and do the other castle first. Thank you all!
