Hello,
I requested Gästehaus/hotel reservations directly through the hotel website 4 days ago. I have not had a confirmation email or any other response at this time. I sent a follow up email today to see if my booking was received. I do not want to create a double booking by trying the website a second time. Should I move on to another hotel, or do I allow more time for the hotel to respond?
Anxiously waiting...Thank you for any assistance.
Have you checked their website to see if they are closed for a holiday? Also, check your spam folder. If it is a small family owned operation, they may be short staffed. Sometimes things just come up.
See if there are any reviews of recent stays of the guesthouse in the usual places- Google reviews, TripAdvisor, booking.com ...
Which hotel are you trying to book?
in addition to the above, did you write in German or English? If English they may have the person who replies to foreign languages only infrequently so it may take a while.
I agree to check your spam folder where an email from an address your email processor may not recognise may wind up.
Have you tried calling during German business hours, or using WhatsApp? If 4 days ago, was that on the weekend?
I had the same issue with a couple small hotels a couple years ago. If the hotel is closed during the winter months emails may not get checked. When I never heard back after about two weeks I moved on to another hotel.
Are you sure they have your correct e-mail address? Did you write an e-mail or did you use a contact form on their website?
I had the slow responses problem from two monasteries I’m booking for September. I wasn’t too worried because of the timing but was concerned they received my request. After five days, I sent another email expressing concern if they had not received my initial request. I added a Google Translation in Italian at the end of the English, also apologizing that I only speak English. I received responses within a couple days and the monastery stays are now booked.
You didn’t say when your trip is. Either email them again or call. Be overly polite for best results. I always include my email and phone number in the email.
Another factor is the dates of the reservation, if for April-June, then yes, try a follow up, maybe even call. If for late in the year, or next year, they may just not yet be willing to commit, they will deal with other requests first, or as others are saying, if a small place, they may be closed for the season and not bothering to check e-mails.
