In early December, I will be arriving in Munich at the airport. I want to then travel on to Vienna by train. I understand OEBB offers the fastest non stop service. Tickets are not yet available for this date. (4 Dec)
How far in advance does OEBB sell tickets?
I'd say 6 months, since i can buy tickets for October 9, but not October 16.
Westbahn also has nonstops in the same travel time as OEBB, going to the West Bahnhof.
Note that discounted tickets do bind you to a particular train, so if your flight schedule changes, or your flight is delayed your train ticket may become useless.
Flexible tickets otoh are always available and do not need to be bought in advance.
Regardless of what you do, there is no need to worry about December train travel until at least September...
