My husband and I will be in Berlin for the NFL game on November 9. We would like to stay within walking distance of the Olympic stadium as well as be within the vicinity of major sites. Just starting to research so really not familiar with anything yet. Thanks in advance.
The Olympic Stadium is well away from any "major sites". It is in the far west suburbs of Berlin and major sites. But there is frequent S-Bahn and U-Bahn service from the area that will get you close to those sites.
There really are not many hotels near the stadium. I suggest staying somewhere around Savignyplatz, Charlottenburg or the Zoo Bahnhof. The S-Bahn will zip you right to the stadium in a matter of minutes, an there is a lot of hotels, restaurants and things to see in that area, plus transport to the "major sites".
Take a look at the Berlin Transport map. You will see Olympiastadion on the left hand side on the S3 and S9 lines, halfway between Spandau and Westkreuz. Download at https://www.bvg.de/en/connections/network-maps-and-routes
BTW, Keep beating up those Vikings.
Thank you! So I'm going to rephrase my question and just ask best central location to stay for sightseeing and we will plan on traveling out to the stadium on game day!
Berlin is big and very spread out. I see the "official" Falcons hotel is the Hotel Luc in what is called Mitte (middle) The Brandenburg gate and Reichstag are not far away.
But I like the area around Savignyplatz further west. It is really the center of the old West Berlin when it was a divided city. The Zoo Bahnhof (Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof really) was the main station in those days for people coming from the west. The S3 and S9 trains from there go direct to the Olympic Stadium as well as stops at Savignyplatz and Charlottenburg.
I would suggest going to Booking.com and searching hotels in that area. But everyone has their favorite parts of Berlin to stay in.
How long are you planning on staying in Berlin? There is really a lot to see and do there, and easy to get around on buses, U-Bahns and S-Bahn trains. Are you flying directly into Berlin?
And Thank You Falcons!
I like mittendrin boutique hotel which is near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in the former West Berlin. The U2 line will take you directly to the Olympic Stadium from nearby Zoologischer Garten or Wittenbergplatz U stations. I would call mittendrin more a B&B than a hotel -- it's just 4 rooms on the 3rd floor of a building built around 1915. The lovely, lovely hostess is Sabine, a former actress from Munich who started the B&B around 20 years ago. Breakfast is amazing, served around a large table, and often shared with other guests, which I like a lot. I'm actually typing this message from mittendrin right now. Tonight is night #60 I have spent here since 2016.

(You can switch language to English in the right upper corner; I should add that Sabine speaks English well).
