Hotels near Nuremberg Christmas market

Hi all,
I'd appreciate any help with recommendations for a hotel near the Nuremberg Christmas Market. We are stopping in Nuremberg for a couple of days prior to a ski trip in the French Alps to see the Christmas market. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions?
Thanks as always,
Lori

not sure what you mean by category. My budget would be $150- $250 a night. I like how Rick's tours have the hotel in walking distance. This last tour (GAS) had much improved and lovely hotels. I especially liked the hotel am stephanzplatz if that helps. Thanks for your help!

There are dozens of hotels within or near the Altstadt (old town center) of Nürnberg. It is easiest for us to use HRS.com to find what is available, even if we want to contact the hotel directly. We have really enjoyed stays at the Art & Business Hotel

http://www.art-business-hotel.com/en

and the Marienbad

http://www.nuernberg-hotel-marienbad.de/en/

Both are easy to reach from the train station.

We have also stayed at the Motel One and a couple of the Ibis Hotels. They all work for the Christmas Markets.

I tried to book Arts and Business but they didn't have the 24th available :(

Two years ago, a friend and I stayed at Hotel Victoria, which is just inside the city wall and a short walk from the Christmas Market. Spotless. Good condition. Good breakfast. Reasonable price. I would definitely stay there again.

With that budget I can recommend Hotel Saxx on the main market (= chrismas market), or, 300m away and in a more quiet area, Hotel Agneshof or Dürerhotel (near the castle). You can find all three on the usual booking platforms (booking.com, hrs.de, hotel.de etc.).
