Hotels near Munich Ostbahnhof

We are traveling to Bavaria for the Christmas Markets this fall (December 1-10, 2025). Flying into and out of Munich. We have been to Munich before...in the summer.

Planning to stay one day in Munich, then head to Nuremberg/Regensburg for three days, then to Salzburg, then back to Munich (overnight) then home.

I have stayed near the Munich Bahnhof in the past but it seems the Ost Bahnhof might be just as convenient and in a different area. Does anyone have any recommendations for a medium priced hotel within a couple blocks of Ost Bahnhof?

Thanks

I can recommend the Moxy Ostbahnhof. Its listed as 550 yards from the bahnhof. I don't know if that is close enough for you.

I've heard that these hotels are quite ok - although of course I haven't stayed there myself yet:

I know this hotel from the inside, at least, and I think it's fantastic. If it's going to be the hotel, it's best to get a room that doesn't face the street: https://www.moma1890.com/en/summerdeal-2025/

I'd also look at hotels by Rosenheimer Platz, like the Holiday Inn Munich City Center and the Hilton Munich City. They are at the S-Bahn station between the Ostbahnhof and the Marienplatz.

The hotels right next to Ostbahnhof are the perfect place for you. For example, you can take the tram line 21 (streetcar) which stops right in front of the hotels mentioned, except for the Adina. You travel directly into the city center and you'll pass buildings and travel through neighborhoods rarely visited by the forum members. And yet it only takes you 15-20 minutes from Ostbahnhof to Marienplatz.

Of course, you can also take the subway U5 or any of the S-Bahn lines (suburban trains) into the city center, but with the tram you can see much more and do something that hardly anyone else does here.

We stayed at Gambino Hotel Werksviertel last year, just 2-3 blocks from the Ostbahnof entrance. Modern and very reasonably priced.
