Hotels near Munich Airport

Any suggestions on hotels that are close to the Munich airport and close to the train? We have a very early flight the next morning and plan to spend the day in downtown Munich and then go stay at a hotel closer to the airport. We won't have a car so we would be using the trains. TIA

If you are ok staying at the airport the Hilton is great - and incredibly convenient.

WE stayed at the Munich Airport Hilton. Right at the airport. Very convenient for an early morning flight.

Looking for close, on S1 , next to Neufahrn station (10 minutes from airport). Hotel Gasthoff Meisberger. Half the price of the airport Hilton, family run, large rooms, excellent restaurant.

Another vote for Munich Airport Hilton. Walk out the door of the hotel, through a plaza, into the airport. PRICEY but worth it to me, especially for an early morning flight.

You’ve gotten some good responses here. Just wanted to share that we stayed at the Moxy, and despite being titled “Moxy Munich Airport,” it was NOT actually close to the airport. Probably 10-15 minute drive. So while we liked the hotel, I wouldn’t recommend in your circumstances. (Just sharing in case you come across it in searching!)

Thanks for all of the input! I like the idea of the Hilton, but with a family of 4 it's pretty pricey. It was close to 500 euros for one night!

I was looking at Hotel Novotel. It looks pretty close to the airport. Has anyone stayed there?
Thanks for the info on the Moxy hotel. I was looking at that one too. Sounds a bit too far for my comfort.

You won’t find a better price and convenience than Hotel Gastof Meisbeeger that I mentioned above.

uncpauper,

We already have reservations at the Moxy when we fly out in early June. It does not seem like a 10-15 minute drive is all that bad. For context, our home airport is O'Hare in Chicago, and the closest hotels there have at least that drive other than the Hilton right at the airport.

Do you happen to know what their airport shuttle fee is? We don't fly until 11 am but thought we'd visit the Lounge early as we are flying United Polaris.

Happytravel, definitely not that bad, it’s also just not right there. Not walkable and did not have a free airport shuttle (I’d confirm this info if considering though). The city center of Munich is a pretty accessible train ride, so I’d just as easily do that if I was still sightseeing.

In our case, we had a rental car and were going back to Munich just for the night to fly out. We had intended to drop the car the night before for ease since we had a very early departure, but without walkability or a free shuttle we didn’t do that. So it worked out okay, but added some confusion and time to our departure morning that we weren’t expecting- fully on me because I hadn’t mapped it enough before booking!

I will say that their family room is HUGE! Very comfortable for our family of 4.

The Novotel Airport Hotel is a good option to consider. Our daughter's family stayed there last summer before an early morning flight. From the airport you can take the line 635 bus to the Novotel Airport Hotel. It only takes 6 minutes.

I too stayed at the Novotel in the summer of 2021. Decent hotel and easy access via bus 635.

I'm certainly no expert (and you state you are using trains), but I think the Lufthansa Express bus (very affordable and convenient if memory serves) goes from the Hauptbahnhof to the airport on a regular (and frequent) schedule. Not sure how early it runs or traffic conditions in the early morning. If it runs very early, your could still stay in the City Centre on the day of your flight. I think it takes about 45 minutes from hbf to airport. Stops at Nordfriedhof (25 minutes to airport, I think) as well.
