Sheraton Carlton Hotel Nürnberg

We stayed 3nights there last Christmas after a Christmas Market River Cruise . . . it's an easy walk to the Old Center where the HUGE Christmas Market is, plus, on the way, you pass by this great small craft area that we really liked. Lots of churches and shops on the way. They served a great breakfast with delish cappucino. Then we just ate dinner/snacks at the Market-. sausage sandwiches, potatoe cakes with herb sour cream, fries w/amazing sauces, Gingerbread, etc

We have stayed here a few times. It is outside the old city walls, but a short walk to the Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof and a little longer walk (1 km) to the old city center. They have parking too: http://www.hotel-nuernberg-heideloffplatz.de/

We stayed here too twice. At the time you could order breakfast from the menu included in the room price. They have some rooms with balcony facing the Pegnitz river. They have to close the bar around midnight due to noise restrictions. There is an underground park house a street over. Very close to the Hauptmarkt/Weihnachtsmarkt. http://www.cafe-lucas.de/

We stayed at the Garden Hotel a couple of years ago. It is a two minute walk from the Weisser Turm subway stop. The room was comfortable, the staff very accommodating. Breakfast was very good and served in an inviting space. A computer was available for guest use. There was a lovley little patio giving off the breakfast area..oh oh..Christmas time. Maybe build a snowman after coffee? Good luck.

We stayed at 2 hotels during the Christmas season and both were close to the main square. The Burg Hotel was the closer of the two but was older and needed some renovation (in my opinion). The Durer Hotel was much nicer but a bit further walk that I remember was up hill at times.

We stayed at Ibis Altstadt last December -- walking distance to Hbf (across the street using an underground walkway) and to Christmas markets. Not fancy but clean and convenient and economical. Optional breakfast buffet expensive but extensive (best if you like a leisurely breakfast before hitting the sights.)

We always stay at the Ibis Alstadt and ask for the 7th floor. Floor to ceiling windows with great views! We never eat there but we do go to Der Beck just a few feet from the hotel. Great breakfast and pastries.
