Hotels in Munich near Marienplatz or Viktualienmarkt

I am looking for a recommendation for hotel rooms for a family close to the Altstadt, Munich, specifically near the Marienplatz or Viktualienmarkt in the month of June.

We love Hotel Platzl - check it out on TripAdvisor - but it's best to book straight on their website

I think you should say "Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt", as they are only about 450' apart (as the crow flies, a little over 700' walking dist. And I think they are as close together in any month, not just June.)

I’ll second the Hotel Platzl recommendation. We stayed there last year and it was absolutely lovely with an amazing breakfast. We asked for a room on the quiet side.

We have stayed at the Hotel am Viktualienmarkt twice now in triple rooms. It has worked well for us on both trips. The hotel is a block from the market, includes breakfast, and the rooms we have had are very spacious. The beds are comfy, there are plenty of outlets, the bathroom is normal size, but there is also a mirror/dressing area outside of the bathroom which makes it easier to get ready in the morning with several people. The staff are very helpful as well. Our most recent trip there was just last month.

I want to thank Lola, ChinaLake67, Shawna and mikliz97 for responding to my post in a polite and respectful manner as is stated in the Travel Forum Community Guidelines. This was my first post to the Forum and it is encouraging to know there are helpful folks on the Rick Steves site. After taking care of an elderly parent with cancer for many years, it will be great to actually travel again with my family.

Many thanks!

Taking care of an elderly parent with cancer is exhausting, but you should be proud of yourself for getting through it. You deserve a wonderful trip. I can't believe it's coming on 9 years ago, but we really enjoyed staying at the Hotel Blauer Bock. The current online reviews for the hotel reflect the same positive experience.

It is so exciting to look forward to travel! You certainly deserve a wonderful experience. We love Munich and we go back in July. We loved our first time there years ago. We stayed in the Viktualienmarkt area.Perfect location. Being summer though you may consider a hotel with AC. Not all have it. It could be hot this June as it was there last summer. We are staying at Hotel Isartor. We surely hope we like it!

Liebe Mignon,
Vielen Dank fuer ein herzliches Willkommen.

We will book at the Hotel am Viktualienmarkt
as the room configuration is a better fit for our family.

Ich freue mich darauf, Ihre schoene

Wirklich ein hervorragendes Deutsch.

I do not know if you've been to Munich already but if not maybe this will increase your anticipation even further. Yes talking about midsummer in this story but valid for the month of June as well in my eyes. Except the fact that Viktualienmarkt might not be empty because the holiday season not yet started :-)

Why Munich is most beautiful in summertime
