Hi I need hotel suggestions for Munich on September 30, 2025 through October 2, 2025. I am not looking to stay in a five star hotel, but want something clean affordable and in a good location who doesn’t want that? My last visit to Germany resulted in bedbugs for all 18 of us so I am a bit skittish about picking a hotel that I don’t know much about! None of the hotels we stayed in were inexpensive on our last Germany trip, but just don’t want to go through that again suggestions anyone
To that we have stayed at and really liked are Hotel am Viktualienmarkt (stayed there twice) and Hotel Lux. Both are in great locations, we're a good price for us, and have breakfast. HaV had breakfast included, but the Lux was an extra cost, but very much worth it IME. The Lux does not have a lift, so if that is an issue take note. The spiral staircase is huge and really pretty, so you sort of don't notice the steps, lol. Our most recent stay at both of these was December 2022.
We stayed at Hampton Inn Munich City West last year. It's right on the tram line but you can walk from hotel to the fest (we did.) It's comfortable and clean.
You're 6 months behind the curve. Everything good has been long booked and prices are at the premium rate. I'd look out of town and plan to ride in on a train. If you have to be in town look north of the University/Museum district.
are you looking for a group of 18 again?
Thank you! Yes I know we are late with our plans.., we are expecting to be outside city. We are only 2 adults( not 18 😊
In over 45 years of visits to Munich, I only stayed in the city once. I prefer to take the train. During our most recent visits, we enjoyed wonderful accommodations in Feldkirchen.
Thank you! I found a place in Grafelfing (?). Not sure I got it spelled correctly! Anyone know anything about this location outside Munich
You could look in Freising, close to the airport, easy connections by S-Bahn and Regional trains into Munich. The town itself is nice, a number of restaurants, a couple breweries.
I do second looking at Booking.com, it greatly speeds up the search.
Regarding bedbugs, unfortunately, quality of the hotel has little to do with it, you are as likely to see them in a 5 star hotel as a seedy hostel. Nothing you can do to pick and choose.
I appreciate your help! I’m going to try your recommendations! Last minute… story of my life
We (and quite a few others here) have stayed at the Hotel Maisberger in Neufahrn. Nice place, big rooms, good food. It's right next to the train station, a short trip into Munich Hbf.
This is non-official, personal input. The Ibis Muenchen City West has had rooms during Oktoberfest in a pinch. Clean, simple chain hotel. The location is right on the subway line just a few stops from the Oktoberfest grounds - assuming that's part of why you'll be there at that time - and not much further along the line is the downtown part of Munich.
I think it is fair to say that Ibis are generally as described, clean, affordable and reasonably located.
Travelling anywhere in Europe, I have always thought they were a good value option. I have stayed in them throughout France, Germany, Hungary..... if you (as I did) need a quick place to stay that has internet that actually works, Ibis can fill that need. They are 100% predictable.
