Hotel recommendations in GP and Berchtesgaden

Hello -
Looking for hotel recommendations in GP and Berchtesgaden. We are a family of three (child is 10). There are just so many options, that I thought I'd ask some travel experts. Thank you so much!

Last fall, we stayed at Gästehaus Zufriedenheit in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and like it. The price was reasonable and it had a nice location in town. The owners spoke enough English and most of the guests were German. Our room had a balcony with a nice view of the mountains. My only complaint was that the soap dispenser in the bathroom was located outside of the shower.

Our favorite in the Berchtesgaden area is in Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden, a 10 minute bus ride from Berchtesgaden. The Pension Mayringerlehen is owned and run by the Grassl family, the friendliest people you’ll find anywhere. They have an organic dairy farm, cows, goats, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. , etc.
Wonderful alpine views also and a very easy walk to the center of Ramsau village and 3 minute walk to the bus.

My favorite place in Berchtesgaden is Gästehaus Alpina. I've stayed there three times. It's one of the closest accommodations to the Hbf and very reasonably priced for Berchtesgaden. The rooms are comfortable, the owner is friendly and helpful, and breakfast is your typical "reichhaltig" German buffet. It's a short walk back to the Hbf, across the tracks (bridge), and up a path to the main town. There are also buses from the Hbf to town.

It's a 7 minute walk (according to Google Maps) west along Ramsauer Str. from the Hbf to Alpina. The sidewalk is only on the other side of the street so cross at the Hbf and again at the Gästehaus. There are also taxis at the Hbf, which will take you there for a very nominal fare.

Thank you - @Paul, the place looks wonderful, and I appreciate the pictures! I checked online booking and they are not available at our time in August, darn! I'm going to email the hotel directly just in case.

Always email directly. Say you know Paul and Diane from NJ. Sabine an her husband Hansi became friends of ours.

I really like Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden a lot, too. I stayed at Anfanglehen, which has a lovely owner who doesn't speak a lick of English, so some basic German language skills are required.

I second (or third) the Ramsau suggestion. We splurged a bit in Ramsau (birthday and anniversary) and stayed at this hotel;

Our room was lovely with a great view even though I think we had the least expensive option at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner were included and food was excellent. It was a quick walk downhill to the bus, a small grocery store and the church that is so iconic. (Google Ramsau church - it is beautiful!) Staff were very friendly. Hotel has a pool and spa which we did not use because we had long days of hiking, but the outdoor pool looked very nice. Ramsau was my favorite destination on our three week trip last August. Highly recommend it.

Thank you all! @Paul, I did reach out directly, and they are booked for our time. They gave me alternate dates, which was kind, but, our flights are already booked. Taking advice from you and @jennifer_g, and staying in the Ramsau region, though, at her suggestion. Looks like the Rehlegg will be a good stop after coming in from the US to relax, hike, our daughter can swim a bit, etc.
This trip is a Christmas gift to husband and daughter, so I've been having to do some research and booking on the sly!

I have never stayed here, but it is in my favorites because I saw the restaurant in a German travel show a few years ago. It is in Ramsau near the Hintersee. Maybe I'll stay there someday?
