This goes back to Summer 2015...we stayed in Hotel am Market as part of the Bests of Europe tour. It was clean and modern.

We stay with Irmgard Orth. She has a small, 3 room b&b. You can see it listed as Orth Zimmer on trip advisor. Pictures and reviews. She has an email orth.irmgard@gmail.com

Bacharach’s website for accomdations used to be good. It’s garbage now

I've never stayed at Im Malerwinkl, but I saw it from the outside in 2004, and thought it looked like a place where I would like to stay sometime. It's in a pretty setting (thus the name, "in the artist's corner"), built into the old city wall at the back of the town, away from the sounds of the trains.

A little jaunt from the bahnhof

Everything in Bacharach is "a little jaunt from the Bahnhof", which is located well south of town center. It's about 4/10th mile walk from the Bahnhof to the one major intersection in town, Oberstrasse & Blücherstrasse, where the Altkölnischerhof is located. From there it's only 1/10th mile more to Im Malerwinkel.

Hotel Bacharacher Hof - good location. Get a room with a balcony. Old Historic hotel.

Hi Carol- 2nd the Altkölnischer Hof in Bacharach. We stayed there for 2 nights pre-Covid.. They even had washcloths in the bathroom! However, I would get awfully bored staying in Bacharach 5 nights. Be sure to check out Restaurant Zeus in Bacharach. It was the only place in town we could get anything to eat after we returned from the Rhine- in-Flames show

Have a good trip!!!

We just stayed last week at The Rhein Hotel (and Stubers restaurant - make a reservation to eat here and you won't regret it, even if you don't stay the night! We made an additional reservation request for our second night, and they squeezed us in (probably because we were guests. Healthy food with great vegan options were very welcomed at the mid-point of our trip! Just watch out for the bees).

We had a river view room with balcony and a view of the Marktturm Tower built in 1300s, right outside our room (just by chance, we got this room!). Other rooms have views over the city (including the Werner chapel ruins). Very old hotel building, sloping hallways and stairs, a decent selection at breakfast, even a river view inside the restaurant for breakfast dining, charming, but nice and updated inside the room, great A/C. The owner and chef is amazingly hard working. They even had bicycles for us to borrow. The train goes by, but it's not a bother. A small parking lot fits about 5-7 cars? Otherwise, we could've used the public parking just on the other side of the road, along the river. We loved Bacharach! Have fun!
