Hello, my wife and I are looking for hotel recommendations for a 3 night stay in Cologne. In the city center, 3 or 4 star good value. Breakfast included if possible. Thank you in advance.
I stayed 3 nights at the Hilton Cologne which is next to the Cathedral and the train station. Check it out.
I stayed at the City Class Europa am Dom hotel when I was in Cologne last year. It was in the city center--in fact, very close to the cathedral. I actually had a view of the Dom from my window. I love the Cologne cathedral and seeing it every night and morning from my window was wonderful! The hotel itself was comfortable, clean, roomy, very reasonably priced and it had air-conditioning, a big plus. Many German hotels do not have that.
Breakfast was not included (which is quite common in many German hotels) but the price was reasonable and the food was very good. Plus the price of the hotel was so good that I didn't mind paying for breakfast. There were also a number of very good restaurants nearby. I highly recommend maiBeck FÜR DICH, which probably gave me the best meal I had in Germany. I also really enjoyed Brauhaus früh am Dom, which served some wonderful authentic German food (and had very good beer).
