hotel recommendations for a family in munich

Hi - we will be in munich for 3 days in july with our 7 kiddos. Do any of you have any recommendations for hotels near a subway or train station? Thanks so much for your advice! Have a great day.

Hi Jen - with such a large group, you might be better off in an apartment. Airbnb prices are generally much cheaper than renting several rooms, you'll get more space and often the ability to do laundry.

Plus most if not all have a kitchen so you can save some real money eating a few meals st home.

We stayed at the Hilton Hotel Munich Park. It's not walkable from the station--but it is a lovely location next to the English Park. Great for kids as there is a lot to do there.

I agree in trying to rent a flat or house. Hotels in Germany, unless they are maybe American chains do not have 2 double/queen beds in each room. You have either 1 bed, 2 singles to make a double or 2 singles plus a rollaway to make 3 beds. I also believe a lot of the hotels don't have many rooms that accommodate 4 so you would have to get multiple rooms. Homeaway.com is the site I've used several tines in Germany and England with great success.

If you want to check a hotel we always stay at Hotel Europaischer (heh.de). The staff is excellent, rooms are nice and very clean, breakfast is excellent and it is directly across the street from the Hauptbanhof. If you book far enough in advance and pay in full you can usually get 10-15% discount. They have always been very helpful and accommodating to me.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Munich is a favorite of ours and we've been taking our 5 year old there since she was 9 months.

The Residence Inn Munich City East is about 5 minute walk from the Munich East (Ostbahnhof) train station and right next to a tram stop. We liked that the location is less busy than the city center but still very convenient to everything (city center, airport, Neuschwanstein, Salzburg, etc.). There is a grocery store right next to the train station that is good for buying snacks, water, and food to supplement restaurant meals.

Hilton City Center has an entrance directly from the subway station. It doesn't get any more convenient than that for subway access. It was also an easy walk downtown. They often have summer specials or sales.
