Hotel recommendation for Garmisch

We have stayed in 4 different hotels in G-P, and the only one of those I would recommend it Hotel Schatten. It is on the Partenkirchen side of town, with cows walking down the street morning and evening. Nice, friendly, family-run hotel. We had a large, lovely Bavarian-style but very modern room, with nice mountain view over the rooftops. Looks like they have a 3-night minimum, and their restaurant has not re-opened, so they operate as a bed and breakfast rather than a full-service hotel.

Of the two you mention, the Alpengruß looks to me like the better choice.

Definitely have a dinner at Zum Wildschutz.

Hotel & Gasthof Fraundorfer, it is great.

Hotel Garni Brunnthale had large comfortable rooms (some with balconies) and great hosts. The breakfasts were plentiful, and it was an easy walk to everything. Clean and comfortable at a great price.
