My wife and I are going to Germany in May with another couple and will be staying in Munich for four days. We will both be visiting the sights in Munich and taking some out of town trips like to Salzburg and Dachau. We will have a car so we could stay anywhere in Munich or even the outskirts of the city. Since we are staying for four days we thought about renting an apartment that would have a couple of rooms and a kitchen. Some friends recommended the Kings Center, has anyone stayed there? Any recommendations for an apartment?

For four days (nights?) in Munich I can't see any sense in renting an apartment. You and your friends will be on vacation, I assume. Why bother with a kitchen, shopping and cooking?
Find a pleasant hotel (Eden Wolff, Le Meridien, Europaeischer Hof) and relax, enjoy the excellent hotel breakfasts and the many restaurants for dinner.
The folks at the front desks are very knowledgeable about places of interest for you to visit.

We stayed in the Santa Clara here and it was great. No car required.
