We'll be flying out of Munich and would like suggestions for a hotel near the airport for our final night. I've always stayed in Munich and taken the train but we have a very early flight and I would like to as much hassle as possible.
We liked the Park Hotel (Best Western) in Erding, which is a nice old town itself and 20 minutes from the airport. The Park Hotel is close to the train station and a few minutes walk into the old town.
On my last trip, I stayed at the Movenpick Hotel. It is a very nice hotel with sauna and restaurant. A bus also serves the route from train stop to hotel. Bus can also be used to access several local restaurants. For a small fee...shuttle to airport
There is always the Hilton which is right in the airport.
The Hilton is a very good place to stay and has an excellent restaurant and bar.
Someone will be available to help with the luggage if you need that.
Hotel Victory, the hotel attached to the Therme Erding resort. It's about 15 minutes away from the airport.
How early is you flight? The S8 runs every 20mins as early as 3am and whisks you from Ostbahnhof to the airport in 31mins.
I typically stay near Ostbahnhof (or Rosenheimerplatz) even for 6am flights and just take the train. Much cheaper than staying at the airport.

We like the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Freising for a bit of atmosphere on our last day. There is a bus from the train station to the airport and we sometimes take a taxi. It is about a 15 minute ride either way. The hotel serves an early (6:30 AM) breakfast, which allows us time to eat. The staff is very cooperative.

We also like the Wirthaus Weißbier Huber for a good meal with atmosphere our last evening in country.
I've stayed near the airport twice, when I had an early flight, and I've always stayed in Freising. It's only a 20 min bus ride from the bus stop in front of the Freising Bahnhof right to Terminal 2, and the bus leaves every 20 minutes
There are a lot of economical places to stay in Freising; here is a listing, in English, with homepages and distance from the station. Some people have stayed at Zur Gred in the past and recommend it; I think Bayerischer Hof looks good. The Boarding House is right at the station.
Last time I stayed in Freising, I enjoyed a nice dinner in the outdoor Biergarten at Weihenstephfen, the world's oldest brewery.
I, like Paul, have often stayed at the Best Western Park Hotel in Erding. Erding is a nice little town about a 15 minute ride from the airport. The Park used to have a shuttle bus to the airport, but it was not available the last time I stayed there, so I took a taxi. There are several nice restaurants to choose from in the central part of town.
Never flew off from Munich in the morning, but for a sleep-over I usually check which hotels are closest to the airport, like on this list:
