Hotel in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Probably convenient to restaurant, cafe, train station. Hotel with nice view .

The train station is outside the town walls, so will take a walk to get inside of the walls, which is where you should stay. Really, the town is so small, no hotel is likely to be inconvenient. We stayed at the Goldener Hirsch, but saw many others that looked similar.

Stayed in Hotel Gerberhaus inside the wall several years ago and were pleased. Fairly short walk from train station.

I agree with Stan that it is worthwhile getting inside the wall. There are many good choices. The Hotel Gasthof Goldener Greifen is one of our favorites and is just off the main square. I like its restaurant. The nearby Brot & Zeit is nice bakery/cafe.

I stand corrected, it was the Goldener Greifen we stayed at as well. The tiny restaurant was full of happy locals when we were there. Gemütlich.

We stayed at hotel Burg Gartenpalais and enjoyed our stay.
Stan, are you referring to the Goldener Hirsch in Reutte? We enjoyed that hotel.

All the hotels mentioned are good choices. Just check the level of service at booking.com that you want.
The closest gate from the train station is the Roedertor, about 400 m. Another 200 m down the street is the first hotel mentioned, the Romantik Hotel Markusturm. See if this is romantic enough for you.

@jamieelsabio, no I've not been to Reutte. But there is a Goldener Hirsch in Rothenburg, and Salzburg too. Probably a common name.

We stayed at the "Burg Gartenpalais". It was wonderful! The building was 600 years old and the owners were so nice.

Teo, I wanted a hotel convient to the train station also on my trip and at a good price. I chose the Hotel Rothenburg HOF across the street from the train station. Hotel has a restaurant and a near by shopping mall. Also it's a easy stroll to the city center.
This may not be you idea of a place to stay, but I liked it.

I agree with this! We stayed there one night in May and it was lovely. Wish we had 2 nights! Everyone was very nice, and good food.

I forgot to mention that the restaurant at the Hotel Markusturm is excellent. We ate there both nights that we were in Rothenburg. I would recommend getting a reservation.

First trip to Rothenburg I stayed at Gästehaus Raidel, which is inside the town wall, but last fall, because my partner is "mobility challenged", I chose to stay close to the Bahnhof, a short walk with luggage, then go into town unencumbered at our leisure. That also worked. We stayed at Hotel-Gastof Post, which is at the corner of Bahnhofstr. and Ansbacherstr. (Ansbacherstr. is the shortest route from the Bahnhof into the town center. It turns into Rödergasse at the Rödertor.) Gasthof Post was pleasant. It has a restaurant, but it had just closed for the season when we were there (mid-Oct.). It also has a nice 2nd floor deck on the shady side where we could enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon.

We stayed at the Hotel Spitzweg. The owner was delightful and would talk with us at breakfast. He helped us plan a wonderful day driving around the countryside. Rooms were older but fairly large and the breakfast was delicious. Make sure to take the Night Watchman's Tour. It was really fun!
