My husband and I are arriving January 6 in Munich @ 18:30 after traveling all day from Florence by train. We need a hotel for the night either within short walking distance (we’ll each have carryons) from the main train station or somewhere close by that we can taxi or shuttle to. We’ll most likely be traveling on the next day. We’re in our mid 60’s, in good health but don’t want to be walking a long distance at night around the train station, especially in winter. Cleanliness is a first consideration, followed by food and then price with other amenities low on the list.
Any recommendations?
Just one night? Like flying out the next morning or such?
Or are you visiting Munich for a while?
Makes a difference as to where to stay :)
We stayed at the Marriott Aloft right across the street from the main train station. That location worked well for us, as we arrived late and were going onto Salzburg the next day. The hotel breakfast was reasonably priced, the beds very comfy, and the staff were quite friendly. There are two ways to exit the train station, so at first we were confused, as we took the wrong exit. Safe travels!
I stayed at Hotel Europäischer Hof, directly across from the Munchen Hbf - a one block walk. I felt safe as a solo traveler. The breakfast was very good as I recall. It was an easy walk to the historic pedestrian area.
CL and Pat provide good advice, both are good choices. The Europaischer Hof rooms are a bit worn, but breakfast was excellent.
Thanks so much for everybody’s input. We booked a room at the Marriott Aloft. I think it will fit our needs perfectly.
