Hotel in Munich

I'll be staying in Munich for 2 nights in early June. Any recommendations for a decent hotel, preferably in or close to the town centre? Nothing too pricey or fancy - I don't care about the size of the rooms or if they offer food, as I'll only be using it for sleeping in after a lot of sightseeing! Just something clean and pleasant.

Thanks!

I like Pension Lindner, on Dultstraße, a few paces south of the newly-pedestrianized Sendlingerstraße, and across the street from the Münchner Stadtmuseum and Jakobsplatz. Asamkirche is just around the corner.

The rooms are clean, if small, and Frau Sinzinger provides an ample breakfast. Rates are excellent. The hotel is on the second and third floors (third and fourth in American parlance), above an Afghan restaurant and another pension (Pension am Jakobsplatz).

We stayed at Pension Lindner also. We were travelling with another couple and both groups were pleased with the rooms and the service. Frau Lindzinger was very personable and helpful with suggestions about sightseeing, and where to eat. We would definitely stay there again.

Thanks for your replies to all of you - well I think that settles it; I've looked it up and it it seems to be just what I'm looking for!

I definitely agree about Pension Lindner. We just returned from Munich 3 weeks ago and stayed there 4 nights. Marion was wonderful. She even mailed back a piece of clothing we had left behind. Rooms, breakfast, location....all were great. Highly recommend.

I'm typing this in my room in Pension Lindner, having just checked in an hour ago. Since my stay here last August, the Afghan restaurant in the ground floor has moved to a different location, replaced by a nice, new apothek. It's convenient to have that so close, and there are no longer al fresco diners on the street outside. The construction project next door is still in progress, but the high temporary wall blocking the street has been taken down in favor of a less-unsightly wire fence enclosure.

As before, the room, location, amenities, value and friendliness of the owner are superb.
