Near Kawede and near train station . Any recommendations?
I guess you mean KaDeWe?
What purpose do you mean by "train station"? Where do you need to go from there?
Price level per night?
KaDeWe is not near any major train station - the nearest is Zoo which is no longer served by long-distance trains.
There are several well-known chains near the Hauptbahnhof - Motel One provides a good price/quality balance.
Just so you know, being near the Hauptbahnhof is not the most convenient location, although it certainly can work (you'd be taking transit to see anything). And I'm not sure why being near KaDeWe is of interest - it's a large fancy department store, so unless you're doing a lot of fancy shopping, you may go once to look around, or not at all if you aren't interested in fancy stores.
In other words, I wouldn't prioritize being near either of these. There's nothing wrong, per se, with being near them, but they're not "great" locations either.
@Herold: Did you ever visit 6th floor of KaDeWe? Then you may know one reason more :-)

And as a local: KaDeWe is not only "a fancy" department store. It is the institution of high-endshopping. It plays in a league with the other 3 major ones in Europe - but that's it.
Furthermore the area around Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzien has a lot of very specialised shops (German: Fachgeschäft).
I would recommend something near the Zoologischer Bahnhof.
Coming from Munich, you arrive at Berlin Hauptbahnhof underground platforms, then take the elevator or series of escalators up to the elevated platforms where you transfer to regional or S-Bahn train to Zoo' Bahnhof. Buy a train ticket, specify Berlin Zoologischer Bahnhof as the destination and the transportation from the Hauptbahnhof will be included in the price.
To get to KaDeWe, you can either walk about 1 km down the Tauentzienstrasse to the KaDeWe store (lots of shopping along the way), or take the U2 U-bahn 1 stop to Wittenbergplatz and you are there.
To Galleries Lafayette, take the U-2 to Stadtmitte.
To the Carnival of Cultures, Take the U9 south to Berliner Strasse and change to the U7 east to Mehringdamm, which is the closest U-Bahn station. Walk a short way south to Yorckstrasse where the festival is located. Here is website and map.

If you like Motel One, there is one by the Zoo' Bahnhof, as well as many other hotels.
Which train station? The closest one is Bahnhof Zoo, which is three stops on the S-Bahn from Berlin Hbf? There are two hotels in which I stayed very close to Bahnhof Zoo...Pension Funk on Fasanenstrasse is the more modest one.
The more expensive one is nearer to Bahnhof Zoo. It's on Joachimthalerstrasse, diagonally from the train station. But the prices there vary as to what time of year and which month you want to stay.
There are 10 Motel Ones in Berlin. I wouldn't bother with the one by the Hauptbahnhof, But the Ku'damm Motel One is by the Zoo' Bahnhof, and the Tiergarten one is near KaDeWe. Interesting that the Ku'damm Motel One is not on the Ku'damm, and the Tiergarten Motel One is not right by the Tiergarten. The Tiergarten Motel One is not handy to any train stations, but taking a taxi from the Haupbahnhof is not unreasonable when you have luggage.
Hotel Pension Columbus am Kürfurstendamn, near the Zoo station and KaDeWe -- family-run, friendly, great breakfasts. Bath-down-the-hall.
Hi everyone, thank you for your info. Have read up, now I have 3 hotels in mind. Still deciding which to stay.
1. motel one Berlin Ku’Damm ( zoo Bahnhof, large Supermarket next door)
2. Motel one Berlin Upperwest ( 5 min walk to Zoologischer garten train , Kurfurstendamm underground station) ( it a new hotel with roof TOP bar)
3. H10 Berlin ku’damm ( joachimsthaler str 31-32)
Some hotel that recommended to me are fully booked on the date . Are the one on my list ok?
There is a food market next to the Motel One at Bahnhof Zoo. It's called "Ulrich" and stays open until 22:00 hrs.
I think you have 3 good choices.
Motel One Ku'damm is closest to the Zoo'Bahnhof, but being next to the railroad tracks leading into the station, could be a bit noisy if your room is on that side of the hotel.
Motel One Upper West is a modern building a close walk from the Zoo'Bahnhof, next to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, a noted Berlin landmark. The church received direct bomb damage during WW II, leaving only one of its towers remaining. Berliners decided to leave it as is as a memorial to the lives lost during the bombings. This hotel is a little pricier than the others, but still inexpensive in my mind.
H10 is in a repurposed older building, a bit further away.
Take Upper West.
@Fred: Ullrich became part of retail chain HIT.
Opening times are 1 hr longer except Sundays: https://www.hit.de/berlin-zoo.html
Thanks...good to know. This must have changed by the beginning of June 2018
I liked the Motel One near the Hauptbahnhof. Made it easy for me to go everywhere.
